Lose Weight

I was preparing a simple lab question for my students and I had the idea of putting it here in my blog. Now you can check your BMI using the simple form that you see on your right.


Body Mass Index (BMI) is actually a way of calculating the ideal weight for a person using the formula


BMI = weight in kg / height(in meters) x height(in meters)

So what does BMI mean? Well the table above can give you a rough idea of what it tells about a person. So how to loose the extra weight that you gained? Well here are some tips for all of you out there.

  • Avoid drinking carbonated drinks, replace them with fruit juice(without sugar) or just plain water.
  • Drink low fat milk
  • Eat fewer portions of meals, but you can take several meals a day.
  • Reduce the intake of fast food and sugary meals.
  • Reduce your sugar intake.
  • Exercise at least for 20 minutes, three time per week. It doesn’t have to be a heavy cardio workout, but just a morning or evening walk will do.
